No-Start Issues

CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH, UNPLUG, INSTALL CHIP, REMOVE CHIP WITH KEYS IN THE IGNITION.  ALWAYS REMOVE KEYS AND PLACE IN POCKET OR DISCONNECT BOTH BATTERIES TO ENSURE YOU DO NOT DAMAGE PCM

Truck will not start with chip in.

Does PCM calibration code match what the chip was burned for

Does the fuel pump run when you turn on the ignition? (99 thru 2003 models)

Does the wait to start light come on and go out when you turn on the ignition?

Turn on ignition of truck and while you are turning on the ignition to the “run” position, watch the chip switch display. Does a small dot appear in the lower corner of the switch as soon as you turn on the ignition and then go away immediately OR does no dot come up momentarily and the chip switch does not light up at all with the key on?

If a dot appears in the lower corner when you turn on the ignition then the truck is in NO START or position 0 and this is why it will not start. With the ignition turned on, press and hold the left button (-) for 3 seconds and let off and switch should reset to number 1 and truck will start.

If not dot appears in the lower corner of the switch when you turn on the ignition and the display does not light up at all then there is no power to the switch, which means the PCM is dead or the install was done incorrectly.

Verify the pcm is good by checking the PCM fuse or by removing the chip from the vehicle and start the truck. If truck starts with chip removed, then pcm is fine and the chip install was done incorrectly. If fuses are good and truck will not start and no wait to start light on dash and the fuel pump is not running (99 thru 2003 models) when you turn on the key, then there is a high probability the pcm is dead. At this point contact one of us to discuss.

If pcm is fine verify install of chip. First thing to check is to verify the cable is not plugged in upside down on the back of the switch. If it is upside down it will not start. After this is verified and it still will not start, remove pcm and remove case and use fingernail to pull across each contact one at a time and in between each contact on both sides. If any silicone comes up with your nail then that is your issue so pull across each contact and in between each contact carefully to remove any unseen silicone and then use a small amount of acetone to clean the contacts and reinstall chip and make sure it sits flush and tight.

Turn on ignition and wait to start light should come on, the switch display should light up and truck should start. Contact us if it does not
